A fantastic tour by Graham - he was so knowledgeable and his attention to detail was impressive. It was full of interesting and quirky facts and the treasure hunt for... read more the kids was a nice touch, which our 9 year old in particular enjoyed. As locals we were amazed by how many historical facts we didn't know and astounded by how much history there is on our doorstep.
The circular tour was enhanced by Graham's use of a tablet to show us photos and videos of places and buildings in their heyday.
We are a family of four (children aged 9 and 13) plus a dog and we all really enjoyed our afternoon which the drizzly weather didn't spoil. We'll certainly try one of his other tours soon.
We would definitely recommend English Riviera Walking Tours for people of any age - tourists and locals alike.

Our tour, called 'Timeless Torquay', took us along the beautiful Torquay coastline, taking just under a couple of hours - although it felt like it went by quicker than that!... read more Graham, our tour guide, narrated our walk with stories about everything from Agatha Christie to the evacuees of WW2 and came across very knowledgeable. Although we thought we knew a bit about the area already, we were surprised at how much more we learnt! Me and my family took this guided walking tour yesterday and cannot recommend it highly enough. Our guide, Graham, explained he history of the harbour as we did the 'Hidden... read more Harbour' tour. We found out that the amusement arcade was originally built to shelter sailors a big upgrade compared to the rope they were previously provided! We were given some history on the pavilion and how Agatha Christie was proposed to by a WWI fighter pilot. We laughed about the story of the hotel - Gleneagles, thankfully no longer an hotel - that inspired John Cleese to write Fawlty Towers and the traditional waiters race through the streets of Torquay!

Torbay at War tour
Love walking and Ive always been interested in the Second World War so Grahams' "Torbay at War" tour ticked both those boxes for myself and a... read more pal of mine. I always judge a tour by how many times you hear "wow i didn't now that" (or words to that effect) and Mark and myself uttered them on numerous occasions. Graham genuinely took us back in time and surprised us as to the high profile roll that Torquay in particular took in the war. We'll be booking another of Grahams' tours as soon as its safe to do so. Thank you Nigel
