Torbay at War tour
Love walking and Ive always been interested in the Second World War so Grahams' "Torbay at War" tour ticked both those boxes for myself and a... read more pal of mine. I always judge a tour by how many times you hear "wow i didn't now that" (or words to that effect) and Mark and myself uttered them on numerous occasions. Graham genuinely took us back in time and surprised us as to the high profile roll that Torquay in particular took in the war. We'll be booking another of Grahams' tours as soon as its safe to do so. Thank you Nigel
We had an amazing time walking around Torquay learning about the interesting life of Agatha Christie while seeing the sites. A big thank you to Graham for making our time... read more in Torquay so great!
When I initially considered doing the English Rivera walking tours I was unsure what the day would be like as the last time I visited Torquay it was a fleeting... read more visit and was not somewhere I would have considered to go to for a holiday. I can honestly say from the walking tour my opinion on Torquay has completed changed. Seeing and hearing about the history of Torquay changed my perspective on this beautiful place. Not only would I come back from another incredible walking touring but I have booked to come back and stay at one of the spa hotels for a holiday. I would recommend anyone coming to Torquay to take part in a walking tour!
Graham’s Agatha Christie tour was utterly fantastic.
My husband and I didn’t know too much about Agatha Christie’s life beforehand, but it really didn’t matter. Graham was engaging... read more and enthusiastic throughout the tour which was so enjoyable. Even from the time of booking Graham’s communication was excellent and we felt reassured that we had picked an excellent guide.
We discovered during the tour that Agatha Christie was buried very close to where we live, so we stopped by on our way home to finish off our trip, pay our respects and say thanks to Agatha Christie for the service she provided to the world.
Thank you for a really great day, we look forward to seeing you again on future tours around Torquay!
As every reviewer has written Graham is an outstanding guide. My wife and I took the Agatha Christie tour on Sept 23rd and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although we have read... read more a few of her novels the majority of our knowledge of her works comes from TV and film. However, as a result of Graham's tour we have both promised to rectify that. We found Graham to be extremely informative but also presented the information as if we were friends out for an afternoon walk in a very relaxed, small group. Graham took us around a number of locations which we had already seen during out stay but had no idea what they actually were which was an added bonus for us. At the end of the tour he was also kind enough to spend some time with us discussing the best places to eat and visit for the remainder of our stay. Therefore, I would recommend Graham as being an essential part of anyone's stay in Torquay and will be going on another tour with him when we return. His tour was definitely a highlight of our stay. Thank you!!
We have lived in the South Hams area for over 20 years and never really looked to Torbay. Decided to take the Babbacombe tour and so glad we did. Graham... read more is a fantastic host. He has an easy manner, his knowledge of the area is exemplary being both informative and interesting. As well as the more well known facts he has a wealth of little nuggets to share which set him apart from others. Time in his company flies by and we recommend booking with him at any time of year, you certainly won't be disappointed. Five stars Mr Kerr and we’ll be back for the Agatha Christie your and the War Walk tour with friends
I took the Timeless Torquay tour with Graham today. Any expectations I had were exceeded by the wonderful tour experience he provided (even organising perfect weather..!).
I work in... read more tourism and can say with confidence that Graham is a top-notch guide. He was pleasant company, and shared lots of fun, interesting, and unusual facts as well as giving great tips for places to eat etc.
The tour was comprehensive, but unhurried, and has whetted my appetite for more.
I'd been to Torquay several times before but really saw it in a new light this time. I hope the tourism authorities will utilise his knowledge and passion for the place and its history to help promote it to new markets.
In the meantime, if you're in Torquay - do take one of his tours. It will be a couple of hours well spent..!
I am sitting here this evening having spent three hours with Graham this afternoon. My husband and I are still talking about this fabulous Agatha Christie walk.
From the initial... read more booking I knew it was going to be a good tour. Graham kept in touch with plans, with a checking "all still on" message the day before. We met as arranged exactly on time and having done the introductions set off. We were the only two on the talk, which meant we were able to exchange far more stories than being in a bigger group. It soon became apparent that Graham was both knowledgeable and passionate about his subject. Armed with a folder of photographs and quotes we made our way along the seafront stopping to hear details of Agatha's life.
We didn't know a great deal about her as a person, mainly our knowledge came from Poirot reruns on TV. But for us, the details were exactly at the right level, enough to be interesting without being a sermon of dates and facts.
three hours flew by. We had swapped stories, deviated a bit off topic (our doing mainly!) and had quite a few laughs. Even if you are not the biggest Agatha fan you will certainly get something from this. She was definitely a very interesting woman and we have been convinced that she requires more recognition for her pioneering attitude.
We have been on very many walks in towns and cities across the world and Graham was up there with the best.
We had an absolutely fabulous walking tour with Graham during our recent visit to Torquay. It was great fun, enjoyed by me - a huge Agatha fan! - and my... read more husband and daughter. Graham is friendly and very knowledgeable about Agatha, as well as Torquay, which made the tour really interesting. What better day to recommend this fabulous walk - on Agatha's birthday! Definitely book if you are visiting, such an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours, you won't regret it. Thanks Graham.
Our mid-August stay in Torquay developed into a far greater experience than we had anticipated, and this is in part thanks to this comprehensive tour. In addition to the beautiful... read more views and best fish and chips we’ve had - our 3 hour tour of Agatha Christie’s relationship with Torquay by our very knowledgable and enthusiastic guide Graham, was the icing on the cake of our trip.
Enjoying a beautiful walk along the harbour and up at greater heights, we enjoyed anecdotes not just about Christie’s life but about Torquay’s history as well.
My family and I all agreed that this was the highlight of our trip, and we’d recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy a surprisingly fun-filled, coastline tour of Christie’s long and incredible life, alongside insights into Torquay’s history we had not anticipated.
